In 2021, Bosch undertook the largest investment in its corporate history with the establishment of a fully automated semiconductor factory in Dresden. This groundbreaking project not only set new benchmarks in manufacturing, quality, efficiency but also involved the comprehensive redevelopment of the Manufacturing IT architecture, leveraging state-of-the-art IT methodology. The vision for the factory was clear: automated, connected, and prescriptive. But what does full automation mean in the context of a modern factory? Beyond automated production, today’s factories generate an immense amount of data. To effectively manage and capitalize this data, Bosch developed and implemented a data-centric IT-Architecture. This presentation delves into the essence of full automation, examines the transformative potential of a data-centric approach at Bosch, and highlights key achievements realized through collaboration with our partner Ab Initio.
